Business Club Training

I was at COE4 business training, at Edinburgh yesterday, the trainers were Rhod Grub and Chris Weir.

There was a lot of information to take in and all of it was highly valuable.
It seems that there are a few issues to be aware of ,the main one being to make sure that potential customers are not in contract, if they are and they move they will have a penalty to pay which may outweigh the savings that can be made.

Remember also that the deal you can offer is the best deal on the table, tell them that say “I am going to offer you the best deal from the start rather than waste your time on unnecessary haggling”

On the mobile front try and get them to take new handsets, if it’s a provided by your boss most people will take less care of the mobile.

Also don’t feel in any way intimidated by being in front of the boss of the company, he/she is a person just like you.
You represent a large company listed on the FTSE and probably with a bigger turnover than the person in front you, company is doing.

Also remember that you are there to solve a problem it may not necessarily be all about saving the company money, but any savings made will go straight on to their bottom line as an increase in profit.

So in closing definitely book yourself on the training if you haven’t already done so.

Everybody Wants To Help With Your Business

British Gas Customers
British Gas has announced that it will increase gas prices by 14.2% and electricity prices by 14.2% from 19th September 2005.
For the average British Gas customer this will add another £61 a year to your annual gas bill and £39 a year to your annual electricity bill.
Since January 2004 British Gas customers have seen their annual gas and electricity bills rise by £206 a year.
11 million households will be affected.
Powergen Customers
Powergen customers will have seen their gas bills rise by 11.9% and their electricity bills by 7.2% on 31st August 2005.
For the average Powergen customer this will add another £45 a year to your annual gas bill and £20 a year to your annual electricity bill.
Since January 2004 Powergen customers have seen their annual gas and electricity bills rise by £117 a year.
5 million households will be affected.
London Energy / SWEB Energy / Seeboard Energy Customers
If you are a customer of one of these companies you will already have seen your electricity bills rise by 11% and your gas bills increase by a massive 15.5% on 5th August 2005.
For the typical London Energy, SWEB Energy and Seeboard Energy customer this will add another £63 a year to your annual gas bill and £30 a year to your annual electricity bill.
Since January 2004 London Energy, SWEB Energy and Seeboard Energy customers have seen their annual gas and electricity bills rise by £180 a year.
5 million households have been affected.

The above is copied from an e mail I received today, this is one of a couple of things that I found thought provoking today.
One of the other things was mentioned in today’s hotnews from telecom Plus head office.
Namely that most comparison sites actually receive financial incentives to promote the customers they refer, we don’t why ?
Why this would add to costs which would then have to be passed on to our customers.
It also looks like all these companies would like to lose their customers or at least help you gain some .

The second thought provoking item was an article in the Daily Express ,mentioning that government policy could be to raise retirement age to 67,want some of that me neither.

I don’t think you need any more incentive than that to crack on with building your business do you ?

Training

Training some it's not just something ,it's the only thing.

On Monday I attended part one training at Edinburgh, although quite a long session, there was a lot of information to take in.

There was the usual element of running through the elements of all the services,a bit of role playing, where Rhod Grub tried to throw a few curve balls to his co trainer Chris Weir.
The two of them seemed to have a lot of fun, which must be hard when doing the same course for the umpteenth time.
There was also some question and answer sessions and my favourite bit when I had to stand up and tell my story ,regarding what Iwanted form my Telecom Plus business.

A couple of things struck me on this session,as with a previous training I attended there seemed to be few estate agents, and financial advisors attending maybe this is a good area for recruiting future id's.

Another thing was that with average savings of £400 for cusstomers, are w not potentailly giving each customer £400 as a gift,a nice way to put it when talking to your prospects.
"I can give you £400 a year back in your pocket without costing you anything" would surely be a good way of focusing your prospect on the benefits of becoming a customer.

How Gordon Brown Can Help You With Your Business

Gordon Brown can help you with your business, consider all the expenses related to your home based business, and see what you can claim as a business expense.

As an example lets say ,you are driving round the local area, putting leaflets through doors then can be considered to be a legitimate expense, or if you live some distance away from one of the training venues then that too is a legitimate cost of doing business.

Think of everything you buy and then try to see how much of it you can claim back, remembering to keep receipts, and of course the fact that there has to be at least some business involvement.

Do you do a lot of printing of ads ,or business letters?
Then the cost of inkjet cartridges and paper would be a reasonable claim, as well as the cost of stamps.

The cost of your start up pack, a percentage of heating ,as well as phone calls the cost of your 0800 number ,any brochures, and marketing materials as well.
Look at things like ,meeting someone for lunch or coffee if it’s talking about your business in some way as reclaimable.

Please seek professional, on all the ideas in this article as I am not in any way a financial advisor.

Fantastic Endorsement Of Utility Warehouse

Today was a great day for third party endorsement of our Home Phone service, with complimentary reviews in both Which magazine, and The Daily Mail.

The Which article had Utilty Warehouse (Telecom Plus) s the number 1 for customer satisfaction.in providers offering both calls and line rental, with aa cuatomer quote "Utility Warehouse:I don't have any problems and the calls are cheap".
The article also goes on to debunk the myth that switching is hard.

The Daily Mail Article

The title of this article was Hang Up On Bt Customers Told.
14 alternative suppliers were compared all but one scored better thanBT on customer service, the best company offering both line rental and cheaper calls was none other than Utility Warehouse, ahead of Onetel Kingston and British Gas.

So get copies of these articles available from The Swat Team site and use them as good third party endorsements.
